Clavariadelphus truncatus grows in coniferous forest on the ground usually at higher elevations.


Description

Tastes sweet to mushroomy in older specimens. One of the larger of the coral mushrooms. They are great candied as an ice cream topping. There are a few species variations in Colorado. Some are more rounded while others are larger and with a flatter top. Careful not to confuse with Spathularia species which are more fan shaped, veiny looking and poisonous.
