Description

Found alone or in small groups. Very similar and often confused with Xercomellus species (cracked cap boletes) which have red stipes and cracked caps.

The boletes in this group are still being sorted out in Colorado. The names used in older literature such as Xerocomus subtomentosus and Xerocomellus chrysenteron may change in the future.
