Russula are one of the most common mushrooms found during the summer. Often times you see so many of them that its "Just Another Russula" or JAR. There are some edible, and some peppery & poisonous. They can be difficult to differentiate. Russula mushrooms have a stalk that snaps crisp like a piece of chalk. Spore prints range from white to yellow to orange. Cap colors can be any color of the rainbow really from white to black. The dark blackening Russula's are very poisonous.
